XP-47H
All
production
P-47s were powered by air-cooled engines, but a pair of D-models were
given extensive conversions to accomodate the Chrysler XI-2220
inverted 16-cylinder powerplant; this was actually the first hemi
engine built by the company. The first XP-47H did not fly until late
July
1945, making it far too late for any operational use, and no further
production was carried out.
