X-47B UAV 3-view plans
Evolved from the earlier X-47A but a very different vehicle, the
Northrop-Grumman X-47B is aimed at producing a demonstrator UCAV that
can operate alongside manned aircraft on carrier decks, including
catapult takeoffs and arrested landings.
The X-47B was rolled out in December 2008, and it was anticipated that
a first flight would take place from Edwards AFB in November 2009;
following delays, testing is now expected to occur in the second
quarter of 2010. Following early flight trials in California, X-47B
testing will then move to the East Coast, where carrier operations will
be conducted.
