The C855 was Alco’s attempt to meet the Union Pacific’s requirement for a heavy diesel to replace the road’s gas-turbine locomotives. Similar in concept to the slightly later GE U50 and EMD’s DD35, the C855 had a stretched frame to accomodate a pair of 251C engines. Unlike its competitors, the 855 had a unique set of four twin-axle trucks, although these outwardly resembled a B+B+B+B arrangement. The C855 turned out to be the least successful of Alco’s diesels, as only two A-units and a single booster were built, and these were scrapped in 1972.
The GBU-53/B is the winning Raytheon competitor in the SDB-II program, which was decided in August 2010. SDB-II is being procured to give a small precision guided bomb capability against moving targets, even in bad weather. The original SDB GPS guidance is replaced by a tri-mode seeker; for highest precision, semi-active laser homing is used, while millimeter-wave radar & imaging infrared modes are used to locate targets through weather, and to discriminate real targets from decoys and countermeasures. The GBU-53/B beat out the competing Boeing GBU-40/B, and is to enter service first on the F-15E, and then the F-35B/C Lightning II.

Highly detailed 1/32 scale model kit of the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, for over two decades the leading air superiority fighter aircraft of the USAF and its allies. The F-15 was originally developed to counter the Mach-2.8+ MiG-25 Foxbat, which at the time believed by western intelligence to be a highly advanced air superiority fighter. However, this turned out to be incorrect, as the MiG-25 was designed by as a high-speed interceptor to counter advanced American high speed bombers such as the B-58 and B-70. Nevertheless, the mistake in identity motivated the United States to develop the F-15, which became one of the best air superiority fighters of all time. The combination of two Pratt & Whitney F100 turbofan engines with a sleek and aerodynamic airframe gives the F-15 outstanding thrust-to-weight ratio, making it highly maneuverable despite its large size. The large wing surface of the F-15 makes it an ideal platform for a variety of air-to-air as well as air-to-ground weapons, and F-15s are fitted with advanced multi-mission avionics, radar, and guidance systems. “As of 2008, the F-15 in all air forces has an air-to-air combined kill record of 104 kills to 0 losses in air combat,” and over half of which were made by IAF (Israeli Air Force) pilots. This super detailed big 1/32 scale model kit features the F-15C single seat air-superiority fighter variant. The kit comes with optional open or closed canopy, opening cannon bay cover, movable air intake, optional open or closed air brake, opening nose
