AC4400CW locomotives
CSX rosters over 600 examples of the AC4400CW (designated
CW44AC) by the railroad, and these continue to be among CSX's most
powerful locomotives. Derived from the DC traction-motored Dash 9-44CW,
the AC4400s have AC motors, and the CSX units are receiving software
upgrades to increase their already impressive tractive effort. They are
a daily sight along the Pittsburgh Subdivision.
