Cooke Locomotive

The Cooke Locomotive and Machine Works began construction of locomotives in 1852, and continued into the 20th Century as a division of ALCO although in later years much of the production centered on rotary snowplows. A pair of Cooke-built 4-4-0s survive today. In 2007, Cooke's adminstration building was refurbished to house condominiums under National Parks Service guidelines to preserve the building's historic character.
