officially rosters 96 of the GE C40-8Ws that were originally
purchased by Conrail.
CSX 7329 was still in Conrail Quality paint in the spring of 1999,
nearly a decade after "Big
Blue's" demise.
CSX 7335
CSX 7925 ex LMS 707. In
the mid-1990s, Conrail and General Electric formed Locomotive
Management Services, which leased out a fleet of 60 C40-8Ws during
periods when they were not being used by Conrail. They were all
finished in Conrail blue and the final batch had
CR Quality lettering. 7925 still carries the "LMS" lettering on the
nose under some spray paint.
